Biography

Marc
Marc - Guitar, Backing Vocals.
A chance reunion of two old friends, Marc and Jai in 2004 set the ball rolling for the band that were to become The REX. At a local open mic night in April of that year Jai entered with guitar in hand and put his name down to play ‘Ride a White Swan’ and a self-penned tune. Unbeknown to him, Marc and Pat had previously placed their name down to play a selection of Tyrannosaurus Rex songs. After spotting each other at the bar, Marc and Jai were reacquainted and Jai was introduced to Pat. Conversation wound its way onto the material for the open mic. Baffled at the coincidence, the boys soon got talking ‘Bolan’. Jai mentioned that he was thinking of putting a tribute band together and Marc left his number in case he “needed a hand”. And so… with Jai’s mates Col in on bass and Jase on drums, they became ‘Jeepster – a tribute to Marc Bolan and T.Rex.’

After being offered the chance to perform their debut gig at Alexanders in June 2004, rehearsals got underway. With the notion of having one gig and ‘seeing what happens’ the band and crowd had a great time. After that – the offers of gigs came thick and fast, with a little help from Marc as hardworking booking agent.

Word travelled fast of this new tribute band with: “a young, fresh-faced singer, an accurate musical line-up, an undeniable raw live energy and light-hearted on stage chemistry”, they were offered performances at conventions in Liverpool, Wigan, Leeds and London as well as numerous gigs in many venues all over the UK.

Pat
Pat - Percussion.
Jason
Jason - Drums.
The years have been kind to Jeepster and they have been fortunate enough to have met and performed alongside Rolan Bolan and his band (in Liverpool and NYC) and journeyed as far as New York to perform a charity tribute show alongside famous faces such as Tony Visconti, Frankenstein 3000, members of Kiss, Skid Row and The New York Dolls.
Still going strong – Jeepster are now The REX (to avoid confusion with bands of the same name) but still have all the same band members and all their own teeth. They take the music but not themselves seriously. They play for themselves and for the crowd.
Colin
Colin - Bass.
Jai
Jai - Guitar, Vocals.

The REX has bluey, green/brown eyes and mousey blonde gingery long shaven hair with shades of intense auburn. They are vegetarian omnivores with slight to medium/large build. They enjoy staying in, going out and walking, sitting and breathing. They are wonderfully married with loving girlfriends and happily single. WLTM people and venues of friendly disposition with GSOH who like to dance and have a great time. Must be sweet and not bitter…. but it’s ok to drink it.
